WeatherFrame will work with most any wireless or wired TCP/IP network that has a
network switch or wireless router. his includes DSL, T1/T3, Cable Modems,
Satellite Internet, and urban wireless networks that provide Internet broadband
service via radio modems. WeatherFrame has no direct dialup capability, but it
can work in a situation where a shared dialup connection is distributed through
a network router that supports dialup.
You simply need to know a few basic settings about your network. For Wireless
operation, WeatherFrame needs to know the SSID of your wireless network
along with the WEP (Wireless Encryption Protocol) keys if it is used on your
network.
Here are the basic steps:
There are 5 basic steps to setting up a wireless WeatherFrame as follows:
- Connect the WeatherFrame to your PC using the USB cable
- Get your Wireless Network's SSID and WEP Keys (often found in the settings
of your wireless network router)
- Set the SSID and WEP Keys in the Content Creation System (CCS) PC software
and transmit them to the WeatherFrame using the USB connection
- Disconnect the USB cable, restart the WeatherFrame by powering it off then
on.
- Once restarted, use the WeatherFrame LCD display Properties (by pressing
the buttons on the unit) to Identify the unit and see that it has been
assigned an IP address by the wireless network router.
You will then be able to send static content to the WeatherFrame via the USB
cable or have URL's automatically fetch images from website locations. For
connecting WeatherFrame via a 10/100 network cable, the steps are similar,
excpet that SSID's and WEP's are not used. See the instructions that come with
the network cable interface unit shipped with the WeatherFrame.
Note: WeatherFrame cannot simultaneous use both wired and wireless
connections.
